Import or Export of Product Configuration
This function enables you to save a copy of the product configuration locally in your system, without leaving the configuration screen. The configuration is saved as an XML file. You can load and reuse this file at a later point in time, for example, when you want to resume working with the last saved configuration. You can also forward the saved configuration to a colleague, in an e-mail.
You have activated the function in Extended Configuration Management (XCM), using the parameter behavior.importexport.mode
.
Note
Import and export are deactivated by default, as they pose a certain security risk. In the XML file, invisible characteristics are also saved; they can be changed before an import. By definition, this makes the external format unsafe.
The configuration engine must be running in a non-secure mode. To enable this, you have set the XCM parameter security.level
to 0
.
For more information about security levels of the configuration engine, see SAP Note 672421
.
On the configuration screen, select the pushbutton Export
.
The File Selector
dialog box is displayed.
Enter a file name, and choose Save
.
The configuration result is stored in the external configuration format (XML) on the local hard drive, or any other location that is accessible from the local PC.
The external format contains information about the version of the knowledge base in use. For more information about the format description of this XML file, see SAP Note 385773
.
On the configuration screen, select the pushbutton Import
.
The File Selector
dialog box is displayed.
Note
When you load a saved configuration, all entries that you made for the current configuration are lost.
Search for the file that you want to open, and then choose Open
.
The external configuration result is retrieved from the local hard drive, or another location that is accessible from the local PC.
Note
If the product ID saved in the external format (XML file) is different from your current product ID, the external configuration is not loaded, and an error message is displayed in the header area.
