Using SAP ERP Master Data
You can create the master data for configurable products in SAP ERP variant configuration, replicate it to SAP CRM, and then use it for product configuration with the configuration engine in SAP CRM. For information on modeling configurable materials in SAP ERP, see SAP Library for SAP ERP under Variant Configuration (LO-VC).
The master data must be compatible with the configuration engine. For more information, see SAP Library for SAP ERP variant configuration under ERP Master Data and Configuration Engine.
You edit your master data in the variant configuration so that it is compatible with the configuration engine.
For more information, see Variant Functions and Reference Characteristics and the Configuration Engine.
You prepare your master data in a way that you can replicate it to the corresponding database. To do so, create a knowledge base for the product or class that you want to configure, and a runtime version for the knowledge base.
For more information, see Knowledge Base, Creating or Changing Knowledge Base Objects , and Creating a Runtime Version.
You can replicate your SAP ERP master data to the corresponding target systems, and use it for product configuration and the subsequent processes.
Note
The replicated knowledge base is not visible in SAP CRM on the WebClient UI; there it corresponds to the product model. The product model is the UI object of product modeling, whereas the knowledge base is the technical object in which the data of product modeling is collected.
