Fast Configuration Entry

You can use this function to enter the technical key of characteristics and characteristic values directly in the input field Search/Set, in the header area of the configuration screen. This means you can automatically navigate to the required location on the configuration screen, and enter the necessary information as quickly as possible.

This function is useful for power users such as call center agents; these power users know the technical key of the characteristics and characteristic values. It is faster for them to enter the information using the keyboard, than searching for the required characteristics and characteristic values on the configuration screen.

You can display the technical key of characteristics and characteristic values, by deselecting the field Display language-dependent descriptions in the UI settings.

Prerequisites

You have activated this function in Extended Configuration Management (XCM), using the parameter behavior.searchset.mode. Here, you can also individually activate the search for characteristics, and the setting of characteristic values.
In XCM, you have defined the delimiter with which this function can be performed, using parameter behavior.searchset.delimiter. The delimiter separates the characteristic values from one another, when multiple characteristic values are entered.

Note

The function cannot be performed if the delimiter is used in any characteristic name or characteristic value name.

You have maintained unique keys for each characteristic and characteristic value in your product model.

Restrictions

With every search for a characteristic, and every time a characteristic value is set, each characteristic or characteristic value is checked against the database of the configuration engine, even if Evaluate Characteristics Online is not selected in the temporary UI settings.
You cannot enter numerical characteristic values.
The entry of characteristic values is supported only if they are unique. If you enter a value that is not unique, an error message appears.
The system only searches in the expanded area of the configuration screen. The collapsed areas are not taken into account.
The system cannot find invisible characteristics, or values in invisible characteristics. Invisible characteristics and their values can only be found if you have set them to visible in the UI settings.

Activities

Enter a characteristic name in the Search/Set field.
The system navigates to the characteristic, or displays a message if the characteristic is not found.
Enter a characteristic value in the Search/Set field.
The system links this value with the characteristic for which the value is part of the domain, navigates to the corresponding location, and sets the value there.
