Product Substitution

The system can automatically replace one product with another one within order entry. This enables you to support seasonal sales promotions, for example.

Product substitution is available to you in CRM Enterprise, in the Interaction Center, in SAP E-Commerce, and in Channel Management.

Prerequisites

You have set up product substitution (or material determination) in SAP ERP, and downloaded this to SAP CRM. For more information, see Customizing under Start of the navigation path Customer Relationship Management Next navigation step Basic Functions Product Substitution End of the navigation path .

You have assigned the product substitution procedure to a transaction type in Customizing.

Features

The system can automatically replace a product that has been entered manually, with another product.

Example Example

At Christmas, you wish to sell your products with special packaging. If a customer buys these products at Christmas time, the required product is replaced by the product with the special packaging.

If the system finds several possible products, then you can select the one that is most suitable.

Note Note

Product substitution is not carried out as a result of the availability situation, this means that a product that is not available is not substituted by one that is available. The rules-based availability check is available to you for this purpose.

You can only use product substitution in the CRM E-Commerce business-to-business scenario.
