Executing Mass Changes in the Background
You can use this function to schedule mass changes either at header level or item level for certain times (for example, times with lower workloads).
If you want to change a lot of objects at the same time, you should execute the mass change in the background.
There are various search criteria available to you when choosing the order items to be changed. The search criteria and the fields in the result list differ from the search criteria that you can choose when you want to execute mass changes at item level.
The system automatically creates a log for the changes and any errors that occur when a mass change is carried out.
In the case of smaller volumes of data, you should execute the mass change in the dialog. You can find more information under Executing Mass Changes for Sales Transactions.
When you select Mass Change Logs
under Search in the work area, you can display information about the status of the mass change execution. You can also navigate to the Job Monitor, to get information about the individual job steps and spools.
To call the mass change for sales transactions in the background, select the menu option Mass Change Sales Orders
in the navigation frame.
Select the required mass change type of either header level or item level in the assignment block Mass Change Type
.
Enter your search criteria in the search and start the search.
The order items found by the system are displayed in a result list. All the items found are already selected. You can deselect hits or execute the required changes for all hits.
Select the pushbutton Mass Change in Background
.
Enter the new values in the corresponding fields.
Select the pushbutton Save in Background
to make it possible to execute the changes.
Another window opens, in which you can schedule the job. Enter the following data:
Job name, with which you can find the job again in the Job Monitor
A job name that contains the run ID is automatically proposed. You can overwrite the proposed value with a name of your choosing.
Start
Time of job execution. If you choose the value Later
, you need to specify the date and time in the following fields.
Date
Time
You can start the job or cancel the transaction. If you cancel the transaction, you come back to the page where you enter the required changes. If you click back again, you come back to the search page.
Caution
As long as you have not yet saved your changes, you can cancel your entries. If you have saved the changes, you can no longer automatically undo the changes. They can only be reprocessed manually and individually. If it was scheduled for later, the job can still be canceled.
To view the messages for the mass change, select Mass Change Logs
under Search in the work area and click the run number. You then receive information about, among other things, the status of the change and can then judge how successfully the mass change was executed.
