Modifying the Producer Properties of
Registered Consumer
Applicable to: remote role assignment, remote delta link, WSRP application sharing
To modify the properties of a producer instance with which you are currently registered, you do either of the following:
● Unregister with the producer, make your changes, and then register again. To unregister and register, follow the procedures as described in Unregistering Your Consumer Portal and Registering Your Consumer Portal.
This is the recommended method for modifying the properties of a producer instance with which you are currently registered.
Note that unregistering your portal has implications on content you have already generated from the producer portal with which you are registered. More information: Unregistering Your Consumer Portal.
● Edit the producer object while registered, make your changes, and then update the registration.
This method keeps your consumer registered while you are editing the producer object. You should only use this option when your producer is down and you are unable to unregister your consumer portal. We recommend that you only modify the attributes of the producer URL (protocol, hostname, and port).
The procedure below describes the latter option (editing the producer instance while registered).

If you are redirecting your consumer portal to a backup producer portal that has been duplicated through SAP's standardized set of system copy procedures, make sure you use the same consumer name as before. Doing so, ensures that your regain the functionality of remote content on your consumer that existed at the time of the system copy.
For information about planning a system copy and copying SAP systems, go to service.sap.com/systemcopy on SAP Service Marketplace. We recommend you use the documents titled System Copy for SAP Systems Based on <Release>, located in the Media Library section.
● You have access to the federated portal administration tools in the standard System Admin role on your portal.
● You are currently registered with the producer portal.
● You have been assigned at least administrator read-write permission to the producer object.

The producer may inherit the permission assigned to its parent folder in the Portal Catalog. For example, NetWeaver Content Producers or WSRP Content Producers.

1. Open the producer object in the Producer Editor. More information: Registering and Unregistering Your Consumer Portal.
The editor opens in read-only mode.
2. Click Edit Mode. When the producer object is in editing mode:
○ Your portal remains registered with the producer portal.
○ Properties you modify are not passed to the producer portal unless you reregister in the Producer Registration tool.
○ You can return the object to read-only mode after you reregister or if you unregister first and then register again in the Producer Registration screen.
3. Modify the necessary properties.
4. Save your changes.

You cannot undo your changes after saving the object.
5. In the Producer Registration tool, click Update Registration to send the modified properties to the producer portal.
If you are registering with a different SAP NetWeaver producer portal that does not contain a registered instance of your portal as consumer, a registration instance is automatically created.
