Temporary UI Settings
You can change certain user interface (UI) settings for the configuration engine, directly from the configuration. To change the settings, choose the Settings
pushbutton and select the required checkbox.
Note
Changes are only valid for the current session. As soon as you close the session, the UI changes are lost.
The screen for UI settings also includes data for XCM application configuration and the knowledge base version you are using. The information about the knowledge base version is useful if you have imported a knowledge base version and you want to know whether the version has already arrived in your system.
In Extended Configuration Management (XCM), you can use parameter behavior.enablesettings
to define whether this function should be activated or not. The following table explains how the values you enter determine the settings available:
Value |
Settings |
|---|---|
T |
Enables a smaller set of settings useful to end users |
A |
Enables a larger set of settings primarily for administrators who want to test various parameters before changing these parameters in XCM |
Recommendation
Hide advanced settings. Otherwise, the system can display sensitive information to end users.
You can make the following standard settings:
Display language dependent descriptions
The system displays a combination of ID (technical key), short description, and long description (if maintained for the characteristic label and the values).
If you choose not to display language dependent descriptions, the system displays language-independent technical keys of your configuration objects (products, characteristics, and values).
Show product ID for component
The system displays both the technical product ID and the description.
Show characteristic groups (configuration model-dependent)
If you create your configuration model in SAP ERP, you can group together the related characteristics in characteristic groups. If you choose to show characteristic groups, the system displays characteristics in accordance with this group information.
If you choose not to show characteristic groups, the system displays characteristics in a list in the same sequence as in SAP ERP.
Display all options
You can show expanded characteristics (that is, radio buttons or checkboxes) or compact characteristics (that is, dropdown lists). If you choose to display all options in the master data, the system shows expanded characteristics.
Show status lights
The system displays colored icons on different levels to signal whether the configuration is complete or not.
If you choose not to show status lights, the system specifies status values using words. Note that incomplete configurations are marked with an asterisk (*).
Evaluate characteristics online
The configuration data is sent to the server after each value assignment for a characteristic. The system checks the completeness, price, and consistency. Note that this can have an effect on performance.
If
you choose not to evaluate characteristics online, you can check the configuration data using the Check
pushbutton (or when you exit the configuration, with the OK
pushbutton).
Indent sub-instances
The system indents components according to the hierarchy level in the bill-of-materials.
