Function documentationOne-to-Many Substitution in the Sales Order

You can enter products in the sales order for which SAP APO carries out a one-to-many substitution. When a one-to-many substitution takes place, a predecessor product is replaced by several successor products. The structure of the product is exploded in the sales order, and reflects the results of the availability check (ATP check).

Prerequisites

In addition to SAP CRM, the following minimum system requirements apply:

  • SAP SCM 5.0

  • SAP ECC 6.0

The system configuration for service parts management is active. You can find more information in the SAP Implementation Guide (IMG) by choosing Start of the navigation path Customer Relationship Management Next navigation step Transactions Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Activate System Configuration for Service Parts Management End of the navigation path.

You have modeled strategies for one-to-many substitutions in SAP SCM. Features

You enter an item relevant for the availability check in the sales order. If SAP SCM carries out a one-to-many substitution, SAP CRM explodes the item, and the following structure results:

  • Main item

The availability check is triggered for the main item. This can include product and location substitution, based on product interchangeability and the rules-based availability check. For example, product A can be replaced by products B and C, and the availability of these products is checked.

  • 1:n subitem for the header product

This subitem acts as a placeholder for the components. It is always confirmed as requested. You cannot trigger the availability check directly for the 1:n subitem of the header product.

  • 1:n subitems for the components

These subitems are created for the components. The results of the availability check are represented in the schedule lines for these subitems. You can trigger the availability check for a single component subitem.

You can make the following changes in the sales order:

  • Delete 1:n component subitems. If any subitems exist for these component subitems, they are deleted automatically.

  • Change the quantity for a 1:n component subitem. This triggers an availability check for this subitem (see also Changing Sales Order Items Relevant for ATP Check). The quantities of all higher-level items remain unchanged.

  • Changes in the main item may trigger a new availability check.

If a partial delivery has taken place for a 1:n component subitem (or for one of its subitems), the 1:n subitem for the header product is considered as completely delivered. This means that you cannot trigger an availability check for the 1:n main item, since there is no open quantity left. (See also Availability Check for Partially Delivered Items).

However, a main item can have several subitems, of which only one is a 1:n header product subitem that is considered as completely delivered. Assuming that the other subitems have not yet been delivered, the main item still has an open quantity that is taken into account for a subsequent availability check for the main item.

One-to-many substitution subitems can be sourced from different locations and delivered independently of each other.

In the standard system, pricing and billing takes place for the components. This is controlled in Customizing for the item category. You can find more information in the Implementation Guide (IMG) by choosing Start of the navigation path Customer Relationship Management Next navigation step Transactions Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Define Item Categories End of the navigation path.
