ATP Check at a Later Time
If a customer places an order, but does not require the product in the near future, then it may not be necessary to carry out an availability check. You may not want to reserve the product at such an early stage, thus blocking it for other sales orders that need to be delivered before this sales order. In such a case, you can postpone the availability check for this sales order.
The availability check is carried out on the sourcing due date. This date is represented in SAP APO in transportation and shipment scheduling (see Features).
For more information on transportation and shipment scheduling, see the SAP Library for SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) under .
This function works when you carry out the availability check using SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO).
The following minimum system requirements apply:
SAP SCM 5.0
SAP ECC 6.0
The system configuration for service parts management is active. You can find more information on this in Customizing under .
Transportation and shipment scheduling takes place in SAP APO. Based on pick/pack, load, and transport times, the system determines key dates such as the material availability date, the picking date, loading date, and the goods issue date. The availability check is carried out for the material availability date.
Using transportation and shipment scheduling, you can specify a date when the availability check is to be carried out. To do this, you use the sourcing due date. This date is modeled in SAP APO with configurable process scheduling.
Note
For more information on configurable process scheduling, see the SAP Library for SAP Supply Chain Management
under .
When you create a sales order, transportation and shipment scheduling is carried out in SAP APO, and a sourcing due date is determined. When you do this, note the following:
If the sourcing due date is today’s date or in the past, the availability check is performed and requirements are saved. Confirmed quantities and dates are transferred to the sales order as usual and represented in the item overview under Schedule Lines
as Confirmed Qty
and Date Confirmed
.
If the sourcing due date is in the future, no availability check is performed. In this case there are no Confirmed Qty
and Date Confirmed
schedule lines. Instead, the sourcing due date is transferred to the sales order and represented under Avail. Check Due Date
in the item overview. The sourcing due date is saved in SAP APO and SAP CRM.
Note
A sales order item can have either Confirmed Qty
/Date Confirmed
schedule lines or an entry for the due date of the availability check, but not both.
Sales order items with a due date for the availability check are monitored in SAP APO in a worklist. When the sourcing due date is reached, the availability check is triggered, and the results of the check are returned to the sales order via backorder processing. These results are stored in the schedule lines for the Confirmed Quantity
/Confirmed Date
. If the system cannot confirm anything, this is expressed with the quantity 0. The system saves the requirement for the requested quantity in SAP APO.
Unchecked deliveries are not created for sales order items for which the availability check has been postponed.
You can find more information on order due lists in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM)
