You configure your NWBC locally on your client for the first logon to the Business Client.
1. Start the NWBC by double-clicking the appropriate icon on your desktop.
This automatically connects the NWBC with the system entered in your local NWBCClient.ini file as the default connection. If you need to log on, for example when logging on to the Business Client initially, a small logon screen appears in this dialog box.

2. Enter the necessary data.
The dialog box closes automatically once the logon process is complete and the content has been fetched.
3. The NWBC starts.
You select the current system and configure systems in a configuration dialog box that you reach using the menu in the NWBC.
4. Choose System ® Preferences.
The configuration dialog box opens.
Example:
The system against which the NWBC client works is the active system (Status is Active). Note that you cannot delete it.
5. You can carry out the following actions on the configuration screen:
○ Change the system against which the NWBC works.
Choose Switch To.
○ Define new systems.
Choose Add.
○ Use the settings of an existing system as a template.
Choose Duplicate.
○ Change the settings of an existing system.
Choose Edit.
○ Delete an existing system.
Choose Delete.
If you choose Add, Duplicate, or Edit, a screen appears containing the corresponding connection settings.
Example:
If you want to create trace or log files, change the default setting, ERROR, to the required setting. For more information, see Tracing and Logging.
6. If necessary, change the settings.
○ Name
Name of the system
○ Type
PORTAL or ERP. In a pure ABAP environment, only ERP is relevant.
○ Protocol
HTTP or HTTPS This setting is located in transaction SMICM under Goto ® Services.
○ Host
Host name. This setting is located in transaction SMICM under Goto ® Services.
○ Port
Port number. This setting is located in transaction SMICM under Goto ® Services.
○ Path
Path specification in the ICF service tree. This setting is located in transaction SICF next to the relevant node in the HTTP service tree at /sap/bc/nwbc/...
○ Client
System client
○ Language
System language
○ User
User name in system
7. Save your entries by choosing OK.
Make sure that your server is configured for user scripting in accordance with Note 480149.
Note that these settings are only required if you need to run an integrated SAP GUI:
You can activate and deactivate certain SAP GUI scripting functions. Proceed as described in Note 692245.
Make sure that scripting is activated for the back end in your SAP GUI. To do so, click (Customize Local Layout) in the system and then go to Options... On the Scripting tab page, select Enable Scripting. You can set the other two checkboxes as required.
