Example documentationExamples: Confirmation Rule and Requirement Rule

A customer wishes to buy a product as follows:

  • 10 pieces on Jan 10

The availability check confirms the following results:

  • 3 pieces on Jan 10

  • 4 pieces on Jan 20

  • 3 pieces unconfirmed

The following examples illustrate how you can achieve different results, depending on the settings of the Confirmation Rule field and the Requirement Rule field.

Confirmation in the Sales Order

Requirements (sent to SAP APO)

One-Time Delivery

According to Request

3 pc on Jan. 10

10 pc on Jan. 10

(Backorder for remaining 7 pc)

Even though at this stage only 3 pieces can be confirmed for Jan 10, it is still possible that subsequent availability check or backorder processing can result in a confirmation for the remaining 7 pieces for Jan 10.

If no further pieces can be confirmed, then delivery takes place for only 3 pieces. The remaining requirements for 7 pieces are deleted when delivery takes place.

Note Note

To ensure consistency, you should set the Delivery Controlfield on the assignment block Shipping for this item to One Time Delivery.

End of the note.

None.

(No backorder)

Complete delivery must take place on requested delivery date. In this case, this is not possible, so the item is canceled automatically.

There are no confirmations in the sales order, because the system could not fully confirm the item.

The system creates no requirements.

Note Note

If you change a sales order item and it cannot be fully confirmed, the system cancels this item and deletes existing requirements.

End of the note.
