Business Client Installation

To ensure that the NetWeaver Business Client (NWBC) runs smoothly, a number of installation steps need to be performed.

Prerequisites

Operating System

The NWBC is currently only available for Windows platforms.

Hardware

If you want to use the NWBC, the hardware prerequisites are the same as for the SAP GUI. You can find more information at service.sap.com/instguidesnw2004s ® SAP NetWeaver ® Release 2004s ® Installation ® Installation - Clients ® Installation - SAP Front End 7.10.

We recommend at least 1 GB memory. The actual memory consumption depends on the number of open session tabs and the number of open windows.

We recommend a minimum screen size of 1024x768, though your screen should preferably be larger. We advise against using VGA monitoring.

Software

Server

You have installed Application Server ABAP (AS ABAP) NW 7.0 SPS14 (SAP NetWeaver 2004s SPS14) or higher (alternatively, the add-on determines the SP release). You can find more information at the Internet address service.sap.com/instguidesnw70 ® Installation under SAP NetWeaver Systems.

SAP GUI

You have installed SAP GUI 7.10.

Caution

SAP GUI 7.10 is the minimum requirement for dynpro-based transactions.

For more information about the SAP GUI installation, see the path given under Hardware above.

GuiXT

To activate the GuiXT integration, choose the button combination Alt+F12 in the Business Client. The option Activate GuiXT is available in the next menu.

SAP GUI Scripting

In the SAP GUI installation the scripting component (SAP GUI Scripting) is already installed:

Caution

Without this component the scripting settings, which are part of the configuration settings, do not work.

Perform Installation

The Business Client is installed similarly to how SAP GUI is installed - either together with the SAP GUI or as a stand-alone platform. Configuration

Once you have installed the software successfully, continue with the client-side configuration of your system.
