Procedure documentation Personalizing Content  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Applicable to: remote role assignment, remote delta link, WSRP application sharing

Use

Local and remote-based content are displayed in the same manner in the portal desktop at runtime. For this reason, portal end users have no intuitive way to differentiate between local and remote content based on their look and feel.

This topic provides information related to the runtime personalization of remote pages and iViews by portal end users.

Procedure

Personalizing Pages

Users can personalize the layout and content of remote-based portal pages as if they are local pages. Personalizing a page includes the following activities:

Changing the page's layout to any other layout that has been assigned to it.

Repositioning the iViews on the page.

      Remove iViews from the page.

Restoring iViews you may have removed from the page (using the Restore Defaults option in the page personalization screen).

Note

For pages provided through remote role assignment, users can add remote iViews only; local content residing on the consumer cannot be mixed with remote content assigned to the page. The navigation panel displays a list of remote content only that has been assigned to the user.

For pages provided through remote delta links, you cannot add local or remote iViews to the page.

For more information, see Personalizing Portal Pages in Getting Started – Using SAP Software.

Personalizing iView Properties

The way in which a portal user personalizes the properties of remote-based iViews depends on the content usage mode applied to the iView:

Remote role assignment and remote delta link modes: For end users, there is no difference between personalizing the properties of local iViews and those of remote iViews that are provided through the remote role assignment and remote delta link modes. For instructions, see Personalizing iViews in Getting Started – Using SAP Software.

Personalization data is stored on the producer portal.

·        WSRP application sharing mode: Users personalizing the properties of remote iViews or portlets provided through WSRP application sharing perform the same procedure as if they were personalizing the properties of local iViews. The only difference is that the Personalization dialog box displays an additional dropdown list: Properties to Display, which must be used as follows:

¡        Local: Used to display and modify the non-application specific properties of the proxy-to-portlet iView residing on the consumer portal.

¡        Remote: Used to display and modify the application-specific properties of the corresponding portlet or iView residing on the producer portal.

Note that the content administrator defines which NetWeaver iView properties are available to end users and if they can be personalized. For more information, see Defining Property Attributes.
