Copy and Paste of Large Data Quantities
You can paste a large amount of data from the clipboard into a table in Variant Configuration Modeling Environment (transaction PMEVC).
This solution allows you to copy more lines from the clipboard than what is visible on the screen at any given point.
You can use this function to edit the following objects:
Characteristic maintenance at characteristic groups
Description maintenance in the following objects:
Characteristic group
Variant table
Dependency
Constraint net
When you choose the Insert button, the system inserts the content of the clipboard before the current cursor position in the table. The Overwrite button overwrites existing data in the table, starting with the current cursor position.
In both cases, the data is directly added to the table. If more than one column is available in the table, you can fill the columns with data from the clipboard, but the different columns in the clipboard have to be separated by a tabulator sign.
It is also possible to copy and paste data to a specific column position, for example, if you position the cursor to the second column, the data is copied starting from this column. This is only possible if the columns before the starting column do not require input. If the clipboard data contains erroneous values, the system does not add them to the table and continues with the next data from the clipboard.
If a cell in the table is read-only, it is not possible to change the content of this cell with copy and paste. However, if the content of the read-only cell is the same as in the clipboard, the data line is processed for editable cells during overwrite.
