Adapting the Header Area

The following CRM portal objects form the header area of the CRM portal desktop:

  • CRM Desktop (com.sap.crm.fnd.crmDesktop)

  • CRM Framework Page (com.sap.crm.fnd.crmFrameworkpage)

  • CRM Masthead (com.sap.crm.fnd.crmMasthead)

  • CRM Tools (com.sap.crm.fnd.crmToolArea)

These objects are a copy of the standard portal objects and are enhanced with CRM-related functions. SAP CRM delivers its own CRM Masthead iView and CRM Tools iView.

CRM Desktop

To make the CRM Desktop available for all users, you need to adapt the Master Rule Collection. These rules can be based on a user, a group, or a role.

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path System Administration Next navigation step Portal Display Next navigation step Desktops & Display Rules End of the navigation path.

  2. Search for the object type Rule Collection.

  3. Choose Master Rule Collection.

  4. Adapt the rules to your needs.

Example Example

You create a role crmUser and assign it to any user, independent of the business role assigned to the user. The rule is modified so that the CRM Desktop is loaded for any user that has the crmUser role.

End of the example.
CRM Framework Page

The CRM Framework Page is part of the CRM Desktop and contains the CRM Masthead and CRM Tools iViews. The CRM Framework Page is configured so that the Portal Favorites iView is hidden by default. However, if you want to display this iView, proceed as follows:

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Content Administration Next navigation step Portal Content End of the navigation path.

  2. Under Browse, choose the corresponding folder, for example, Start of the navigation path Content Provided by SAP Next navigation step specialist Next navigation step CRM Foundation End of the navigation path.

  3. Choose CRM Framework Page.

  4. Choose Page Content.

  5. Choose and open Desktop inner page with the technical name com.sap.portal.innerpage.

  6. Activate the Visible indicator of the Portal Favorites iView.

CRM Masthead

In addition to standard portal functions (Log Off, Personalize, and Help) the CRM Masthead iView contains links that lead to the following CRM functions:

  • CRM Personalization

  • CRM Help Center

  • CRM System News

If you want to hide or display these links, proceed as follows:

  3. Choose CRM Masthead.

  4. Choose the following links and select Yes if you want to display them:

    • Show Link in Masthead: CRM Help Center

    • Show Link in Masthead: CRM Personalize

    • Show Link in Masthead: CRM System News

CRM Tools

In addition to standard portal content, the CRM Tools iView contains the CRM central search. This iView contains CRM-specific properties that are grouped under the property category CRM Portal. In this category, you can define the settings for the CRM central search.

  3. Choose CRM Tools.

  4. Choose the property category CRM Portal.

  5. Define the following properties:

    • CRM System Alias

Specifies the alias of the CRM backend system; the central search is connected to that system to find all object types and attributes for which the user can search.

    • Enable KM Search in CRM Central Search

Yes means that Documents is added to the object type dropdown box in the central search; if you search for documents, a KM search starts instead of a search in the CRM application.

    • Use Dropdown Boxes or Dynamic Behavior

Yes means that the search object types and attributes are displayed in standard dropdown boxes. No means that a dynamic behavior is activated, except in accessibility mode, where standard dropdown boxes are used.

    • Use Generic Error Message

Yes means that a generic error message is displayed if a severe error occurs in the central search; 'No' means that a technical error message and its stack are displayed, to enable debugging.

    • Width of Attribute Dropdown Box

Specifies the width in pixels (integer value without px) of the attribute dropdown box (second dropdown box of the central search); if the value is 0, the width is automatically adjusted to the longest entry in the dropdown box.

    • Width of Combined Object Type and Attribute Dropdown Box

Specifies the width in pixels (integer value without px) of the combined dropdown box if the central search consists of one dropdown box and a single entry field. If the value is 0, the width is automatically adjusted to the longest entry in the dropdown box.

    • Width of Object Type Dropdown Box

Specifies the width in pixels (integer value without px) of the object dropdown box (first dropdown box of the central search). If the value is 0, the width is automatically adjusted to the longest entry in the dropdown box.

Configuring the Home Tab

To avoid a double Home tab in the above-mentioned roles, create a delta link copy of the standard role and hide the entries for the Home tab:

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Content Administration Next navigation step Portal Content End of the navigation path in the portal.

  2. Under Browse, choose Start of the navigation path Portal Content Next navigation step Portal Users Next navigation step Standard Portal Users End of the navigation path.

  3. Choose Copy in the context menu.

  4. Select a folder of your choice, for example, a folder in which you have already saved objects, and choose Paste as Delta Link in the context menu.

You have created a new delta link copy of the standard role.

  5. Double-click the copied role and proceed as follows with all Home entries in this role:

    1. Double-click Home on the role tab page.

    2. Choose Yes in Invisible in Navigation Areas.

    3. Save your entries.

  6. Remove the assignment of the original standard user role pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role to the users, and assign your copied role instead.

Mapping Portal Themes

You can either display CRM skins in the CRM portal, or map portal themes to CRM skins.

You can map portal themes to CRM skins in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management, by choosing Start of the navigation path UI Framework Next navigation step Portal Integration Next navigation step Map Portal Theme to CRM Skin End of the navigation path.
