Object documentationRequest for Change

A transaction that is used to request a modification in the IT infrastructure, such as the purchase of a new server.

A request for change (RfC) must usually go through an approval process before execution. It can be categorized as, for example, a standard change, planned change, or emergency change.

Requests for change are based on the service process business object.

Integration

An RfC can be a follow-up transaction of other transactions, such as incidents and problems. For example, when the cause of a problem (and its related incidents, if there are any) has been determined, a change in the IT infrastructure might become necessary. At this point, you create an RfC as a follow-up. An RfC can also be created without reference to a specific transaction.

An RfC’s execution can be planned in detail on an item level, with optional integration into processes such as resource planning and billing.

If a knowledge article has been used to resolve an RfC, it can be attached to other similar RfCs as a possible source of helpful information.

If IT items are assigned to an RfC, the system can automatically update the IT items' statuses if the RfC status changes.
