Changing the Number of RFC Server Instances or
Threads
By default, one TREX RFC server per SAP gateway runs on each TREX host. You can either increase the number of RFC server instances in single-thread mode or switch the RFC server to multithread mode. The system then automatically starts the corresponding number of RFC server threads. Both changes can be necessary for performance reasons.

The TREX RFC server is configured for multithread mode by default.
...
1. Go to the RFC: Current tab page in the Landscape: Connectivity window in the TREX admin tool (stand-alone).
2. Choose Connect Admin Tool to connect to the SAP systems.
3. Select the RFC connection for which you want to change the number of RFC server instances.

Make sure that you have selected the single threadedoption (TREX RFC server runs in single-thread mode) in the RfCServer dropdown list.
4. Use the Default Number RfCServer Instances function to change the number of TREX RFC server instances.
...
1. Go to the RFC: Current tab page in the Landscape: Connectivity window in the TREX admin tool (stand-alone).
2. Choose Connect Admin Tool to connect to the SAP systems.
3. In the RFCServer dropdown list, choose the multi threaded option (TREX RFC server runs in multithread mode).
All RFC connections that are listed in the TREX admin tool (stand-alone) are configured again for multithread mode. To change the mode, the TREX admin tool stops and restarts all TREX RFC servers.

Make sure that stopping the TREX RFC servers does not terminate running processes that the applications using TREX have started. Otherwise stopping the TREX RFC servers can cause data loss. Before you make the change to the RFC server mode, a dialog box in the TREX admin tool warns you specifically again of this danger.
