Function documentationContext Area

 

The context area is part of the CRM WebClient UI and the Interaction Center (IC) WebClient UI and contains the following:

  • Branding area, which includes the brand logo and message, as well as standard SAP CRM header area links such as Personalize and Help Center

  • Context area components, such as the scratch pad, alerts area, and toolbar buttons

    The scratch pad is only available in the IC interface.

The context area resides in a fixed position at the top of the screen. However, you can customize the area for different business roles.

Prerequisites

  • You have created context area profiles in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Start of the navigation path Basic Functions Next navigation step Communication Management Software Integration Next navigation step Define Context Area Profile End of the navigation path.

  • You have assigned context area profiles to business roles in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Start of the navigation path UI Framework Next navigation step Business Roles Next navigation step Define Business Role End of the navigation path. If upgrading from a previous version of SAP CRM, you have assigned the CONTEXTAREA function profile to your business roles.

  • You have configured the context area to suit customer requirements. For example, you have configured the layout and content of individual components within the context area, or replaced the standard SAP logo and brand message. Configuration instructions are provided in SAP Solution Manager.

Features

  • Context area customizing

    You can create different versions of the context area and assign them to separate context area profiles, which you then assign to business roles. The context area profile also allows you to set polling frequency.

  • Context area configuration

    You can configure the context area layout and the components within the layout. You can also enhance individual context area components, or add new ones.

  • Toolbar configuration

    You can customize button availability and organization in the toolbar.
