Process documentation Warranty Analysis in ERP Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

You can use this support function to analyze the warranties for products, individual objects, and components in your customers’ installed bases. You can, for example, identify customers whose warranties have expired so that you can then proactively offer a warranty extension or a corresponding service contract.

Process Flow

...

       1.      System provides data for the warranty object (SAP ERP)

Warranty objects are the objects for which the warranty is valid and for which service orders can be created.

The following technical objects of SAP R/3 are considered as warranty objects in warranty management:

·        Equipment

·        Functional locations

·        Installed bases

·        Material numbers with serial number

Additionally, SAP discrete industries include the vehicle warranty object

       2.      System provides data for master warranties (SAP ERP)

You require master warranties so that you can assign individual warranty conditions to each warranty object. This enables you to check in warranty claim management whether the object is under a warranty.

       3.      System provides data for the warranty claim (SAP ERP)

       4.      System updates data for the warranty, installed base, and warranty object  (SAP BW)

During regular data extraction from SAP ERP into SAP BW, the system updates the warranty information for installed base components and for warranty objects in SAP BW.

For this analysis, you can use the following InfoCubes in SAP BW

·        Analyze Top N claiming dealers: InfoCube 0AU_WTYG1

·        Analyze Top N labor values: InfoCube 0AU_WTYG1

·        Analyze the total number of recalled objects: InfoCube 0AU_WTYG1

·        Analyze frequency with which a warranty claim becomes valid for a damaged material: InfoCube 0AU_WTYG1

·        Configure query for expired warranties per individual object: InfoCube 0AU_WTYG1
