Defining
Number Ranges and Groupings for Upload
Business partners must have the same business partner numbers in SAP CRM and SAP Media. When a customer is created in background processing in SAP Media, they must also have the same number as their customer number. For this reason, you must make a number of special settings for number ranges and groupings, as illustrated by the following example:

You create a business partner with internal number assignment in SAP CRM. The system assigns the business partner number 1234567890.
Since the business partner numbers in SAP Media and SAP CRM have to be the same, the business partner in SAP Media is also to be assigned the business partner number 1234567890. This means the number range interval for business partners in SAP Media must include the number 1234567890. External number assignment must be defined for this number range.
The customer created in background processing must also be assigned the number 1234567890. You also need a corresponding number range with external number assignment for customers.
Similarly, because internal number assignment is performed for the corresponding number range in SAP CRM, you must not create business partners in this number range in dialog processing in SAP Media. If you were to do this, it would not be possible to ensure that the business partner was assigned the same business partner number in SAP CRM as in SAP Media.

1. Define number ranges in SAP CRM
Define at least one number range (number range object Business Partner) with external and one with internal number assignment. These number ranges are intended for use when creating business partners in dialog processing in SAP CRM. Note down the number ranges with their interval limits.
2. Define business partner groupings in SAP CRM
Create the groupings and assign them to the new number ranges. As you do this, select one of the groupings as the external standard grouping and one as the internal standard grouping. Do not select the Hide indicator for the new groupings. Note down which groupings you have assigned to which number ranges.
3. Define number ranges for business partners in SAP Media
Create a number range (number range object Business Partner) with the same interval limits in SAP Media for each of the number ranges you noted down. Specify external number assignment for each of these number ranges.
4. Define business partner groupings in SAP Media
Define groupings in SAP Media that correspond to each of the groupings you noted down and assign the relevant number ranges. Select the Hide indicator for each one. This means these groupings cannot be used in SAP Media to create business partners in dialog processing.
5. Create account groups
Now create an account group for customer accounts for each grouping. Do not make any settings for the field status – simply copy the default status, Optional. Note down which account group you have created for which grouping.
6. Create number ranges for customers
Create a number range (number range object Customer) with the same interval limits for each of the number ranges you noted down. Here too, specify external number assignment for these number ranges.
7. Assign number ranges to customer account groups
Now assign the customer number ranges to the account groups in the same way as you assigned the business partner number ranges to the groupings in step 4.
8. Define Media account groups
Create a Media account group for each customer account group and assign it to the corresponding customer account group.
9. Define and assign number ranges
Create a number range (number range object No.rge for bus.prtnr) for each Media account group. The number range must have the same interval limits as that of the number range object Customer, which belongs to the corresponding account group for customers. To do this, proceed as follows:
a. Choose Group ョ Maintain in the menu. On the screen Maintain Number Range Groups, choose Group ョ Insert in the menu. Create the new number range in the dialog box Insert Group, and choose external number assignment. Enter a text and choose Enter to confirm your entries.
b. The new number ranges are displayed at the top of the screen and the Media account groups created in step 8 are listed beneath them under the header Not Assigned. To assign the Media account group to the number range, select the indicator for the number range, position the cursor on the Media account group, choose Select element and then Element/Group.
10. Assign account groups to roles
Finally, you must assign the new account groups to the mandatory partner roles. To do this, proceed as follows:
Choose Partner functions and then choose Environment ョ Acct group assignment in the menu. On the screen now displayed, assign at least the roles Sold-To Party, Bill-To Party, Payer, and Ship-To Party to each of the new Media account groups.
11. Assign groupings to Media account groups
Assign the Media account groups created in step 8 to the corresponding groupings created in step 4.
12. Assign account groups to groupings
Now assign the business partner groupings created in step 4 to the customer account groups created in step 5.
