Configuration Settings for User Management in
CRM Web Channel 
To be able to use CRM Web Channel Web-based applications you need to carry out various configuration activities in your backend SAP CRM system and in your Java-based applications.
You must perform the following configuration steps to be able to run Web-based applications.
● Customize CRM Web Channel authorization roles
Carry out Customizing activities for user management in your SAP CRM system. In Customizing for Customer Relationship Management choose Web Channel ® Basic Settings ® Internet User and carry out the customizing actvities for users.
Basic User Management Settings
Determine the internet user settings for your Web applications. Select which Internet user concept you wish to use.
● You specify the internet user concept for B2B applications (B2B, HOM, BOB) in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Web Channel ® Basic Settings ® Internet User ® Internet User Settings ® Set B2B Internet User.
● You specify the internet user concept for B2C applications (B2C and CSR) in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Web Channel ® Basic Settings ® Internet User ® Internet User Settings ® Set Up Internet Users (B2C)
In addition you must assign a reference user in Customizing which is used for authorization assignment in the B2C applications. You do this in the following Customizing activities:
● In Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Web Channel ® Basic Settings ® Internet User ® Internet User Settings ® Set Up Internet Users (B2C).
● In Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Web Channel ® Basic Settings ® Internet User ® Internet User Settings ® Assign Reference User Variable for Internet Users (B2C)

You create reference users in your backend SAP CRM system. In the SAP Easy Access Menu, choose Architecture and Technology ® System Administration ® User Maintenance ® Users(transaction SU01). Create a new user of the type Reference User and enter all required data: Assign the appropriate authorization role (for example B2C Web shop) on the Roles tab page.

Only the SU01 user concept supports the assignment of authorizations to users and Single-Sign-On (SSO) functionality. Therefore, SAP recommends you use SU01 users to improve security. Should you already have SU05 users in your system you can migrate these users from SU05 to SU01 users. You can do this in Customizing in your SAP CRM system. In Customizing for Customer Relationship Management choose Web Channel ® Basic Settings ® Internet User ® Internet User Settings and use the activities Set B2B Internet User and Set Up Internet Users (B2C) to migrate your users.
Web-Based User Management Settings
Youcan create and manage users for B2B CRM Web Channel applications using the Web-based User Management application. You carry out the Customizing activities for the Web-based User management application In Customizing for Customer Relationship Management under Web Channel ® Basic Settings ® Internet User ® Internet User Settings ® Web-Based User Management.
Carry out the following steps in Extended Configuration Management (XCM) for your Web-based applications
● Maintain service users in Extended Configuration Management (XCM) for your Web-based applications
● Determine a user type in Extended Configuration Management (XCM) for your Web-based applications. For more information, see E-Commerce Logon Procedures.
