The start of the week is the weekbreaker, the day when one business week ends and the next begins. The system uses the start of week and the daybreaker definitions to define when the scheduling week begins. Use this procedure to define the start of the week.

Procedure

       1.      You access the activity through either:

¡        The SAP IMG, by choosing the path SAP IMG ® Customer Relationship Management ® Workforce Deployment ® Retail and Interaction Center Workforce Deployment ® Operational Settings ® Define Start of Week

¡        The SAP Easy Access menu, by entering the transaction code CRM_WFM_SM.

You see the initial page for site maintenance.

                                                  i.       At Profile Type, display the selections and choose Operational Settings / Parameters.

ii.       At Sub-Type, display the selections and choose Start of Week.

                                               iii.       Choose Search.

iv.       Click Start of Week, the topmost node of the tree, with the secondary mouse button and choose Create.

You see the Create New Parameter dialog box.

                                                 v.       Enter a Profile ID, which is the name of the start of week definition the system displays in the tree view.

vi.       Enter a date defining the first day for which the start of week definition is valid.

                                              vii.       Choose Continue.

       2.      You see the Define Start of week table where you complete your start of week definition by entering the following information:

Field name

Description

Use / Notes

Week Breaker ID

The unique identifier for the start of week definition you entered at the Create New Parameter dialog box.

Start Date

Displays the Start Date you entered at the Create New Parameter dialog box.

End Date

The effective end date.

If no end date is planned for this daybreaker definition, enter 12/31/9999 to specify an open-ended validity range.

Short Description

A brief description of the start of week definition.

The system uses this description in any displays identifying the start of week definition.

Week Day

The day the system uses as the first day of the business week.

Choose the day from the drop down list.

Start Time

Field not used.

Long Description

A detailed description of the start of week definition.

Note

You can change the start of week definition. However, the effective start date of a change for the start of week should occur on the same day of the week on which the new business week starts. For example, if the current date is Monday, March 1, and your current start of week definition is Saturday, to change the start of week definition from Saturday to Sunday, you should define the effective start date for the change as of Sunday, March 7.

       3.      Save your entries.

Result

You have defined the start of week settings and can assign them to your location. For more information, see Assign Parameter Settings to Locations.

Example

The daybreaker for the system can be different than the time a calendar uses to indicate when one day ends and the next starts (that is, 12:00 midnight). For example, if your daybreaker is 04:00 (4:00 AM), and your start of week is Sunday, then each business day starts at 04:00, and your business week starts at 04:00 Sunday morning. The consequence is that a shift could span multiple calendar days without spanning multiple days within the system scheduling period.
