Specifying Fixed Date and Quantity
In certain cases, the results of the availability check for an item are such that a full delivery is not possible on the requested delivery date. In this case, the system creates one or more confirmation schedule lines with partial quantities and/or later delivery dates. If the customer accepts these quantities and delivery dates, you can set the Fixed Date/Qty indicator in the sales transaction item.
This causes the requirements to be reduced to the confirmed quantities. This means that the confirmed quantities, not the requested quantities, are transferred for the availability check. This can help to reduce pressure on production. This indicator can also be taken into account during backorder processing.
You can set this indicator in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management, at in the General section. It is then proposed in the sales transaction item, when you create it.
