Function documentationImporting Data to SAP NetWeaver BI Locate this document in the navigation structure

When importing the data, you load an external list to SAP NetWeaver BI. After a DataSource (source system: PC file) has been defined with the structure of the file, the content of the file can be imported to master data object 0ELM_GUID_I.

Activities

  1. Start the work step in the transaction External List Management

Choose the file for which the InfoPackage is to be created. If the file is not assigned to an InfoPackage, select it and choose Enter. If the file is already assigned to one or more InfoPackages, you can select the line with the file or InfoPackage. Choose Enter, to select the existing InfoPackage or choose Create to create a new InfoPackage for this file. If you upload the same file for a list several times, you will have several entries in 0ELM_GUID_I with the same content.

  2. Schedule the loading process in BI Scheduler

If you have selected a file with an existing InfoPackage, the InfoPackage is opened. If you have selected a file without an InfoPackage, or if you chose Create, a new InfoPackage is created. The selected path (path and file name) is entered for the InfoPackage automatically. Check whether the file properties (especially file type and separator) are correct. The full path and file name in BI Scheduler must be identical to the one that was entered for this list on the External List Management interface. Schedule a background job and use the monitor to check whether the address data has been imported correctly.
