Marketing plans and campaigns are the elements of a hierarchically built marketing project.

  • A marketing plan is an instrument used in marketing to draw up and implement marketing policy.

  • A campaign is an instrument used in marketing planning and campaign management to plan the measures by which a marketing plan is to be executed.

    Note Note

Marketing projects are marketing plans, trade promotions, deals or campaigns.

Marketing elements is a collective term for marketing plan elements, campaign elements and trade promotion elements.

  • The marketing plan is used as an organizational tool for top-down budget and target planning. You can use marketing plan elements to structure a marketing plan in the form of a hierarchy. You can assign one or more campaigns to each marketing plan element.

  • Marketing plans can be broken down into further marketing plans, marketing plan elements or campaigns. However, you can only assign campaigns to a campaign. You cannot assign marketing plans to a campaign.

  • Campaigns are used for operative marketing planning and execution. Multiple campaign elements make up a campaign.

    Note Note
