Configuring the Accessibility Mode 
Use
To use the accessibility options when working with SAP products, you need to enable the accessibility mode and also make certain other settings. The following is a description of how to configure the accessibility mode for these products:
● SAP GUI for Windows
● SAP GUI for HTML
● Portal
● SAP NetWeaver Business Intelligence (SAP BI)
SAP GUI for Windows
Using a Screen Reader
If you want to use a screen reader, install the SAP GUI Screen-Reader Extension add-on on the SAP GUI and the screen reader (see SAP Note 740785). SAP provides you with this add-on.
To activate the add-on for this screen reader extension, enable SAP GUI scripting on the application server (see SAP Note 480149).
Settings in Windows Control Panel
Note for system administrators: Before a user can enable or disable accessibility mode in the SAP configuration, he or she requires access authorization to the control panel of his or her Windows operating system.
Make the following settings in the Control Panel of Windows:
1. Choose Start ® Control Panel ® SAP Configuration.
2. Deselect Use New Visual Design.
This enables Classic Design.
You also require Classic Design if you want to make special font or color settings in SAP GUI for Windows (see Settings in SAP GUI for Windows with Classic Design).
3. Select Use Accessibility Mode.
You can select accessibility mode only if you have disabled New Visual Design.
4. Deselect Notify when a script attaches to a running GUI.
Settings for the Local Layout
Make the following settings in the local layout of SAP GUI for Windows:

1. In SAP GUI for Windows with classic design, choose Local Layout ® Options. You can also use the key combination ALT + F12 (for Local Layout) and then press the key O (for Options).
You can see
the text Local Layout in the
classic design only if you have enabled the accessibility mode. Otherwise you
just see the icon 
.
2. On the Options tab page, select Dialog box at error message and Dialog box at warning message. If you also want to see dialog boxes for success messages and hear beeps for messages, set the appropriate options.
3. On the Scripting tab page, deselect the Notify when a script attaches to a running GUI flag (if you have not already done this under SAP Configuration in the Control Panel).
You can reset the following accessibility mode properties to their defaults by deselecting the appropriate options on the Accessibility tab page:
● Include disabled elements in the tab chain
● Display list symbols as letters
Deselect these two options only if you do not need the information they provide. For more information, see SAP Note 883706.
Settings in the SAP System
In the SAP system, choose Help ® Settings. On the F4 Help tab page, set the F4 help display to Modal.
If you are not using a screen magnifier, you can configure the font type, font size, background color, and font color to meet your requirements. For more information, see Settings in SAP GUI for Windows with Classic Design.

SAP GUI for HTML
Make sure that the accessibility mode flag is selected on the system logon screen.
The strategic GUI for delivering accessible mySAP solutions is SAP GUI for Windows 6.40 together with the screen reader JAWS by Freedom Scientific – except for the following functions, which require SAP GUI for HTML:

logic-based applications
SAP GUI for HTML with ITS 6.20
●
Template-based
applications
SAP GUI for HTML with ITS 6.40
Portal
To activate accessibility functions in the Portal, proceed as follows:
...
1. On the initial screen, choose the link Personalize.
2. In the next window, choose User Profile.
3. In the user profile, select the Activate Accessibility flag.
This setting influences all Portal content, including any applications based on HTMLB, Business Server Pages (BSP), or Web Dynpro Java/ABAP Frameworks. For applications that run without the Portal and which are based on HTMLB, BSP, or Web Dynpro Java/ABAP Frameworks, you need to set the URL parameter SAP-ACCESSIBILITY=X (for example, yourAppPath/yourApp?sap-accessibility=x).
For the Portal and for any applications based on HTMLB, BSP, or Web Dynpro Java/ABAP Frameworks, make the JAWS screen reader settings as described under Configuring JAWS for Usage with the Portal.
SAP BI
If SAP BI is running in the Portal, activate the functions for accessibility in the user profile in EP. In all other cases, you must set the URL parameter ACCESSIBILITY=X or SAP-ACCESSIBILITY=X.
