Groupware integration is made possible with the help of the Groupware Adapter and the SAP Groupware Connector. SAP provides two SAP Groupware Connectors, one for the Microsoft Exchange Server and the other for the Lotus Domino Server. The SAP Groupware Connector performs server-based data synchronization between the CRM server and a Groupware Server.

The following figure illustrates the general architecture:

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

The SAP Groupware Connector and one (or more) SAP Groupware Connector Proxies are connected with the CRM server by means of the Groupware Adapter. The Groupware Adapter is in turn part of the SyncPoint technology. The connection between the SAP Groupware Connector and the Groupware Adapter is established using the SOAP protocol.

The SAP Groupware Connector for Microsoft Exchange uses Microsoft Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) to connect to the Microsoft Exchange Server. The SAP Groupware Connector for Lotus Domino uses the Lotus Domino toolkit for Java/CORBA to connect to the Lotus Domino Server.

The SAP CRM Groupware Connector is created as a Windows NT service and runs under a Windows NT user account.
