Procedure documentation Adding Controls to a Tile Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

Adding and positioning controls in a tile creates a rich context of information allowing the user to perform his or her task. There are two types of controls.

·        A bound control is a control that has been associated with a property of a data source.

·        An unbound control is not bound to a data source.

Prerequisites

You have:

·        Created a tile

·        Identified the data sources and the properties you want the tile to display or provide for user interaction

Procedure

       1.      In the Solution Explorer, click the tile you want to design with the secondary mouse button and choose View Designer.

The Tile Designer window appears.

       2.      In the Properties panel in the Label field, enter an appropriate title for the tile, then continue with the appropriate sub-procedure.

Adding a control from a data source

                            a.      In the Solution Explorer, expand the Business Library folder.

                            b.      Expand the Business Objects or Business Queries folder, depending on which type of data source you want to associate with the tile.

                            c.      Locate the desired data source and expand it to display its properties.

                            d.      Determine what you want to do next using the following table.

Map all properties of the data source to the tile

Drag the data source and drop it on the tile.

The corresponding controls appear on the tile. The business anchors created for the data sources appear in the Document Outline window, Anchors view.

Map single data source properties

Drag each property and drop it on the tile.

The corresponding control appears on the tile. The business anchor created for the data source appears in the Document Outline window, Anchors view.

View data source information

Click the data source with the secondary mouse button and choose View Designer.

                            e.      In the Properties panel in the Label field, change the name of the control if required.

Note

To associate a second data source to the tile, repeat this procedure.

To build the information context the two data sources are to provide, you create a dependency between the data sources by Creating an Anchor Hierarchy for a Tile.

                              f.      Save your entries.

Adding an unbound control from the Toolbox

                            a.      From the Toolbox, choose the Tile Control tab.

The set of standard controls appears.

                            b.      Drag the control you want to use and drop it on to the tile design area.

The corresponding control appears on the tile and the unbound business anchor created for the tile appears in the Document Outline window. If required, you can associate the property of a data source to the control. For more information, see Manually Associating a Data Source Property to a Control.

                            c.      Save your entries.

Result

You have added required controls to a tile. You can align the tile controls using the options in the Format menu.
