Product Substitution 

Use

The system can replace one product with another one automatically within order entry. This enables you to support seasonal sales promotions, for example.

Product substitution is available to you in CRM Enterprise, in the Interaction Center WinClient, in Internet Sales, and in Channel Management.

Prerequisites

·         You have set up product substitution (or material determination) in SAP R/3, and downloaded this to SAP CRM. You can find more information in the Implementation Guide under Customer Relationship Management ® Basic Functions ® Product Substitution.

·         You have assigned the product substitution procedure to a transaction type in Customizing.

Functional Scope

The system can automatically replace a product that has been entered manually by another one.

At Christmas, you wish to sell your products with special packaging. If a customer buys these products at Christmas time, the required product is replaced by the product with the special packaging.

If the system finds several possible products, then you can select the one that is suitable.

Product substitution is not carried out as a result of the availability situation, this means, a product that is not available is not substituted by one that is available. The Rules-based Availability Check is available to you for this.

Special Features for Internet Sales

You can only use product substitution in the CRM Internet Sales business-to-business scenario.
