Function documentation Deduplication of Marketing Segments Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

When modeling target groups in the Segment Builder, you use deduplication to ensure that the same business partner or household is not contacted twice in a marketing campaign. Deduplication occurs according to methods that you define, and, when deduplicating within a profile set, according to priorities that you can assign to marketing segments.

You can also take into account commercial marketing opt-out lists such as the “Robinson List” when carrying out deduplication.

Prerequisites

You have defined a deduplication method in Customizing and have implemented the BAdI Determination of Deduplication Method.

Features

     Deduplication methods

You define the criteria used to perform deduplication in Customizing and via a BAdI.

     Prioritization

You can assign a priority to your marketing segments to define the deduplication order. You can choose a priority between 0 and 9999, where 0 is the highest priority, that is, segments with priority 0 have the greatest importance during deduplication.

Note

Exclusion lists, such as the “Robinson List“, are an exception. These lists always have priority -1 and are not used in the campaign execution.

 Note

If you perform deduplication for segments that were created in a previous release, these segments are given priority 0 by default.

     Counting

If a deduplication rule is selected for your profile set, the number of business partners in the profiles of this profile set is displayed immediately after deduplication. On the other hand, the number of business partners is displayed in the profile set properties before deduplication.

Activities

You can activate deduplication in two ways:

In the marketing segment properties, you can specify if and how deduplication is to be performed.

In the context menu of the profile set, you can specify that deduplication should be performed for this profile set and can subsequently trigger deduplication.

Example

A profile set contains several target groups that are used in different phases of the same marketing campaign. Deduplication therefore needs to be performed for the profile set. This ensures that certain business partners are contacted once, but not twice.
