Definition

Components are stored in the repository. They are simple workflows that can be used in conjunction with elements.

For each component, there are input- and output parameters. The input parameters are the values the workflow needs to carry out each step. The output parameters are values that are available for subsequent steps.

Caution

The following two restrictions apply for workflow templates to be used as components in the Workflow Modeler:

·         The container element names cannot exceed 12 characters

·         The container elements flagged as input cannot also be also flagged as multi-line

You can publish components in the Workflow Modeler.

Create a Component in the Workflow Modeler

...

       1.      In the designer area, choose Create.

       2.      Create your own workflow by using the functions the Workflow Modeler provides. For example, move the desired elements into the designer area with drag&drop.

       3.      In Attributes, click Container and add the necessary variables.

For more information on variables, see Attributes ® Container

Note

In the Container, you can enter the necessary import- and export variables.

If you set import variables as mandatory, the workflow cannot continue until the required input is given. When you publish the new workflow , the import- and export variables become input- and output variables.

       4.      Save the workflow and activate it.

The workflow is now stored under My Workflows.

       5.      To publish the workflow, click on the workflow with the alternate mouse button and choose move to component.

Your workflow is now published and is available as a component.

Once you have moved your workflow to components, the import- and export variables you have chosen become input- and output variables.
