Reading Reminder 

Use

If no billing-relevant reading is available at a specific time, you can send a reading reminder to the respective partner. The volume overview generates a reading reminder for the item requiring the reading. Tab page Control Data (UBB) indicates which messaging sequence is used, along with the dates on which the system will send the reading reminders. The messaging sequence defines which output channel is used and when the system sends the reminder messages. If no messaging sequence is selected in tab page Control Data (UBB) of the service contract, the system uses output determination procedure 0001 by default. You define the output channels, such as letter and e-mail, along with the messaging sequences in Customizing for Record Usage (see section Prerequisites).

Integration

You define the output determination procedure in tab page Control Data (UBB) when you create a service contract.

Prerequisites

Before the system can generate reading reminders, the following prerequisites have to be met:

·        You have defined the output channel for reading reminders in Customizing for Usage-Based Billing under Record Usage ® Define Output Channel for Reading Reminder and under Record Usage ® Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) ® BAdI: Implement Additional Media for Outputting Reading Reminders

·        You have configured the messaging sequence for reading reminders in accordance with your requirements in Customizing for Usage-Based Billing under Record Usage ® Define Reading Reminder Messaging Sequence.

 

We recommend creating messaging sequence 0001, as the system uses this messaging sequence by default if no other messaging sequence is specified.

Activities

To create and send reading reminders, choose Usage-Based Billing ® Readingsfrom the SAP Easy Access menu: the two reports Create Reading Reminders and Send Reading Reminders are available.

The system creates reading reminders by period.
