Process documentation Connection of a Software Component Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

In the standard system, the software component Account Management (FS-AM) is, for example, connected to the Postprocessing Office. You can, however, also use the Postprocessing Office for your own software components.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

For an up-to-date list of the software components that are connected to the Postprocessing Office in the standard system is in the system table Connected Software Components (/SAPPO/SAP_CMPNT).

All settings in the Postprocessing Office depend on the software component. You can define, for example, the following characteristics depending on the software component:

·        Display and edit postprocessing orders

·        Overview screen of the Postprocessing Desktop

·        Detail screen of the Postprocessing Desktop

·        Tab pages in the object area

·        Processing methods for participant object types

·        External display of the key fields for the objects

·        Search helps on the initial screen

·        Use and typing of your customer fields

·        Log Area

Process flow

To be able to use the Postprocessing Office for your software component, you need to implement the Postprocessing Office in your system for your software component. Proceed as follows:

1. Defining Software Components

...

       1.      Process the IMG activity Define Software Component in the Customizing for the Postprocessing Office.

       2.      Process the IMG activity Define Selection Criteria for Postprocessing Orders in the Customizing for the Postprocessing Office.

2. Defining and Activating Business Processes

Process a minimum of the IMG activities Define Business Processes and Activate Creation of Postprocessing Orders in the Customizing for the Postprocessing Office for your own business processes under Business Processes.

3. Implementing Object Types

Defining Object Types

...

...

...

...

       1.      Create the object type in one of the following ways:

¡        In the Business Object Repository (BOR) in the customer namespace(Z range or /**/).

¡        In the Postprocessing Office in the customer namespace (Z range) by using a class or a function module.

       2.      Under Object Types, process the IMG activity Define Object Types in the Customizing for the Postprocessing Office.

       3.      If required, create your own function modules to be able to use the following options on the initial screen, the overview screen, or the detail screen of the Postprocessing Desktop.

¡        Overview and detail screens: Conversion of the internal object key to an external key for an object type.

¡        Initial screen: Enhancement or change to search help for object type and for object key.

Note

The function modules must have an interface predefined by SAP. For more information, see the Customizing for the Postprocessing Office under Object Types in the documentation for the IMG activity Assign Object Types to Characteristics under Prerequisites.

Enter your function modules in the IMG activity Assign Object Types to Characteristics.

Creating Tab Pages in the Object Area

You can create one ore more tab pages for each object type that is displayed in the Postprocessing Desktop in the object area. Proceed as follows:

       1.      For each tab page, define a subscreen and three function modules for the events PBO and PAI as well as for updating the data.

Note

The function modules must have an interface predefined by SAP. For more information, see the Customizing for the Postprocessing Office under Object Types in the documentation for the IMG activity Define Tab Page Display In Object Area under Object Types.

       2.      Process the IMG activity Define Tab Page Display In Object Area.

Implementing Processing Methods

When you create the dialog methods for the BOR object type, you are provided with these processing methods in the group box Processing Methods of the object area in the detail screen of the Postprocessing Desktop.

If you process the IMG activity Define Processing Methods and Assign Object Types in the Customizing for the Postprocessing Office under Object Types, you also have the following control options:

·        You can assign one of your own or an SAP object type with methods that either you defined or that were delivered by SAP.

·        You can deactivate methods delivered by SAP, change their description and/or change the display sequence of the methods on the detail screen of the Postprocessing Desktop in the group box Processing Methods.

4. Connecting Business Processes

To connect a business process to the Postprocessing Office, call the following Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs):

·        PostprocessingOrder.SetContext

·        PostprocessingOrder.Create

·        PostprocessingOrder.Save

For more information, see the BAPI documentation in the BAPI Explorer.

5. Creating Your Own IMG Structures

If required, you can include the Customizing views that you need in your own IMG structure. This has the following advantages:

·        You can set up the IMG structure to meet your own requirements, and include only the views that you need.

·        You can define a software component default so that you do not need to specify it every time you process an IMG activity. In the IMG activities, the system displays only the entries that were created for your software component. You need to create a suitable report transaction for this in the customer namespace and then enter it in all IMG activities in your IMG structure on the tab page Maintenance Object.

For more information, see Structure linkIMG Structure Maintenance.

You can, however, also enter all your settings directly in the Implementation Guide (IMG) delivered by SAP for the Postprocessing Office under the CA-GTF-TS-PPO component.

6. Creating Your Own Area Menu

If required, you can include the transactions of the Postprocessing Office that you need in your own area menu. For more information, see Structure linkArea Menu Maintenance.

You can however, also run all transactions directly from the SAP Easy Access screen under Cross-Application Components ® Postprocessing Office.

Result

You can use the Postprocessing Office for your software component.
