Function documentation General Settings for Precalculation and the Creation of Links Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

If you have chosen a file in a particular format (HTML, PDF, PS or PCL, for example) as the output format, you can make various settings on the General Precalculation tab page.

If you have selected an online link as the output format, the settings options on the General Link Generation tab page are available to you.

Features

Theme

Here you determine the theme you want to use. This defines the colors of the precalculated BI object and its appearance.

Note

Note that the chosen output format determines which themes are available. Depending on the output format, the BEx Broadcaster offers you the relevant themes.

For more information, see Structure linkPortal Themes.

Only Upon Data Change

Here you determine that the broadcast setting is only distributed if the data that is displayed in the distributed document has been changed since the last distribution to the underlying data provider (for example, the query). If the displayed data has not changed, the document is not distributed.

Note

You can only make this setting for queries and Web templates.

The BEx Broadcaster can only apply this function if the broadcast setting itself has not been changed. If the broadcast setting has been changed, the BEx Broadcaster distributes the document in accordance with your settings, without checking whether changes have been made to the displayed data.

Transfer Navigation Status

This function is available to you only when you have started the BEx Broadcaster from a Web application (using Distribute in the context menu) and then jumped to the BEx Broadcaster.

If the precalculated document or the online link has the current navigational state of the Web application, choose Transfer. The current navigational state is the state at which you called the BEx Broadcaster in the context menu using Distribute.

If the precalculated document or the online link has the initial navigational state of the Web application, choose Delete. The initial navigational state is the start view when you call the Web application (for example from the Web Application Designer).

Variable Assignment

Variable Assignment: You can create values for input-ready variables for the query or Web application. The query or Web application is then precalculated with these variable values.

Take from Variant: You can select an existing variant for a query. The query is precalculated with the values of the variant.

Note

Variable assignment from variants is possible for queries and workbooks. For more information about the settings on the Workbook Precalculation tab page, see Precalculating and Distributing Workbooks.

If you have selected Online Link to Current Data as the output format, the variable assignment is attached to the URL. When the recipient calls up the online link, the query or Web application is started with these variable values.

Note

When you precalculate a file, you can specify one or more variable assignments on the General Precalculation tab page. When you generate online links, you can only assign one variable.

Exceptions

If the query or Web application contains exceptions, you can specify whether they should be considered during precalculation or generation of online links.

No Consideration: The system precalculates the query or Web application or generates an online link whether an alert occurred or not.

Only Precalculate at Minimum Alert Level: The query or Web application is only precalculated or distributed as an online link if an exception occurs within it that has a specific minimum alert level or a worse alert level. Specify the desired minimum alert level.
