This graphic is explained in the accompanying textScenario: CRM Online Application

Business Scenario

In this particular scenario, the term CRM Online Application refers to a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system used in conjunction with an SAP graphical user-interface (GUI).

Your sales office uses the CRM Online Application to manage the whole range of its activities, from promotions to order processing. Some of your products are configurable. When your sales staff enter orders for configurable products in the CRM system, the configuration and pricing are done by the SAP Internet Pricing and Configurator (SAP IPC). The SAP IPC is an integral part of the CRM Online Application. In the CRM product master, you can create and maintain products. You can also use the SAP IPC to simulate configuration for configurable products and product variants, or display and simulate configuration of the variant.

Process Flow

All the data that the SAP Internet Pricing and Configurator requires to configure products is contained in the CRM consolidated database.

  1. A sales clerk enters a configurable product as an item in a quotation or sales order.

A screen appears, where the sales clerk assigns values to the characteristics of your product, according to the product options required by the customer.

This screen is the CRM Online Application's user-interface to the SAP Internet Pricing and Configurator, which incorporates the Sales Configuration Engine (SCE) and the Sales Pricing Engine (SPE).

  1. Once the configuration is complete, the sales clerk can proceed with the quotation or sales order in the usual way.
  2. The configuration data is saved in the CRM system for further processing.
