Object documentation Data Model for Replication Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Definition

A Replication Object is a logical unit (customer record, order header with several positions, text module, etc) which is defined within the entire system and exchanged between the various datasets. The replication object can consist of one or more segments, each of which may contain several data records. The following condition, however, applies to a replication object: in the root segment of the object there must only ever be one record containing a unique replication key (distribution key). A replication object is based on so-called BDoc types.

Use

Replication objects are classified into various replication object types. This allows you to be flexible when compiling the dataset of the current Site The following replication object types are available:

·        Intelligent replication objects

·        Simple intelligent replication objects

·        Dependent replication objects

·        Replication objects of type unfiltered (bulk)

·        Replication objects of type simple unfiltered

Replication object types can be combined with each other for creating individual datasets. The following combinations are possible:

·        Multiple dependent replication objects:

In this kind of replication a replication object is dependent on several intelligent replication objects. The multiple dependent replication object maintains its own Look-Up Table, but does so according to Criteria defined by the higher level replication objects.

·        Combined dependent replication objects:

Combined dependent replication means that there is a multiple dependent replication object for which additional own distribution criteria can be defined.

Example

Multiple dependent replication object:

The distribution of the replication object “activities” depends on the intelligent replication objects “customer” and “object”.Thus the responsible mobile employee receives activities relating both to his or her customers and to the objects for which he or she is responsible.

Combined dependent replication object:

The distribution of the replication object “activities” depends on the intelligent replication objects “customer” and “object”.You can also specify an individual distributor for each activity.
