Function documentation Offline Upgrade Command Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

This command is used to initiate Mobile Upgrades Packages that have been sent to mobile clients via an offline mode, namely, CDs. Offline commands can be modified to indicate required parameters that are used when the command is executed.

Note

When you choose to send Mobile Upgrade Packages via CDs, you must create another Mobile Upgrade Package containing this command. For more information, see Offline Upgrade Deployment.

Prerequisites

The Offline Upgrade Command must be a part of the parent upgrade and should have the following parameters:

·        Name of the Offline Upgrade (including the version number part appended to it).

·        Name of the directory on the CD where the upgrade packages is located.

Activities

       1.      Specify a name for the command.

       2.      Select the name of the Offline Upgrade Package (from the Combo box) that this command will initiate.

Note

The combo box is populated from the registry. If you navigate to the registry key indicated below, you will find a list of "value-name: Value-data" pairs containing a set of all the Offline Upgrades Packages created with their corresponding checksums. If this list is too long, and older entries are no longer needed, deleted what is not required from the registry.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\MSA\WorkBench\ClientUpgrade\Offline

       3.      Indicate a folder name where the Upgrade package can be found. If you are distributing the Offline Upgrade packages via CDs, then you can specify the name of the folder on the CD where these packages are located. This will result in the packages automatically getting picked up from the folder when the command is executed. If this is not indicated, the mobile client user will be prompted for the folder containing the packages.

Note

You can also indicate the entire path where the package will be located. This is useful if you have placed the packages on a shared folder on the network and have mapped a common Network Drive on all the machines that have to be upgraded. In such a case, you can specify this field as "M:\UpgradePackages", and the tool will process the offline upgrade using the packages in this location.

       4.      Choose OK.
