Reporting authorizations control which data a user has display authorization in a query.

Previous to SAP NetWeaver 2004s, this was realized through the standard authorization concept of SAP. In the Reporting authorization class, no authorization objects are delivered. You have to create them yourself. The following describes how you can use this concept.

You can still use this authorization concept, but we recommend that you change to the new concept with SAP NetWeaver 2004s because it better suits the requirements of BI.

By default, the new concept is active. However you can switch this in Customizing at SAP Customizing Implementation Guide ® SAP NetWeaver  ® Business Intelligence  ® Reporting-relevant Settings  ® General Reporting Settings  ® Select Analysis Authorization Concept.
