Creating and Integrating an Image Map 

Purpose

 

In Content Management, image maps are used for the graphical depiction of folders and their content. An image map is an alternative to the standard depiction of a folder.

 

Prerequisites

 

·        You have decided how you want to depict which objects in an image map.

·        There is a suitable graphic for structuring the required objects.

·        You have a folder that you want to display as an image map.

 

Process Flow

 

The following steps are necessary to integrate an image map into CM:

       1.      Determine the coordinates of the link sensitive areas within the graphic.

 

       2.      Create areas.

To define link-sensitive areas, choose Configuration Content Management® User Interface ® Areas . See Image Maps

 

       3.      Create a new image map and assign the areas.

To create an image map, choose Configuration ® Content Management ® User Interface ® Image Maps. See Image Maps

 

       4.      Create an OTH file. See Creating an OTH File.

 

       5.      You make the necessary settings in the iView (Workset Content-Admin ® iViews).

Use an existing Java iView, or create a new one. The iView must be based on the Navigation master iView ( com.sapportals.km.navigation).

Open the properties of the iView, and on the Java tab, set the Layout Set Mode to as default.

 

Result

 

You have created an image map and integrated it into CM.

When you navigate to this folder, an image map is displayed instead of the default depiction of the folder. The system gets the information telling it to display the folder as an image map from the OTH file. If a user selects a link-sensitive area inside the image map, the referenced object is opened.

Creating an Image Map

 

To clearly depict the storage of geographically distributed documents, choose a political map of Europe as the initial point of access to a folder hierarchy.

       1.      Determine within the graphic the coordinates of the countries that are relevant for you.

 

       2.      Create an area for each of these countries.

Name          = France
Coordinates   = 186,232,188,239,192,239,194,243,201, […]
Link          = /documents/france
Tooltip       = Documents from France
Shape of Area = polygon

 

       3.      Create an image map and assign the areas you just defined.

Name       = Map of Europe
Image Path = /etc/public/graphics/europe.jpg
Tooltip    = Europe
Areas      = France, Spain, Germany, Britain, [...]
