Function documentation Variant Matching in Sales Transactions Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

If Product Variants already exist for a configurable product, the configurable product can be substituted by the product variants in sales transactions.

Prerequisites

You can make the necessary settings for variant matching in Customizing for Business Transactions by maintaining item categories:

·        Activating variant matching for an item category. If variant matching is to take place, you can make settings here as to whether this is executed manually or automatically.

¡        During automatic search, the product in the sales order is substituted by any found variants.

¡        In a manual search, the user has the option to actively search for product variants in the Internet Pricing and Configurator. The user can also determine whether the product in the sales transaction should be substituted by any variants that are found.

·        Determining when a product should be substituted in a transaction item.

¡        Only when generating the configuration

Note

Generating a configuration in the SAP CRM is only finished once the configuration is saved to the database (that is, until the transaction is saved).

¡        When generating and changing the configuration

¡        The product should not be substituted.

Note

Substitution is not executed in the sales transaction if the corresponding transaction item has already been transferred to SAP R/3.
