Use

You can use this business process, during billing or billing simulation, to convert meter reading results into actual consumption values. In consumption data determination, the quantities are converted during consumption billing. Quantity conversion can be in the same dimension (conversion factors) or in another dimension (for example, in gas billing).

Process Flow

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

The Consumption Data Determination process runs in SAP R/3 (SAP Utilities):

To determine the quantities from the meter reading results, you carry out a contract billing. The following options are available for converting quantities:

·        Register factor

The register factor is a constant that arises from the construction type of the register. This constant is multiplied with the meter reading result to determine the actual consumption value.

·        Billing factor

The billing factor is the quotient from the conversion factor and the transformation ratio. Multiplying the meter reading result with the billing factor results in the actual consumption value. The transformation ratio specifies the conversion factor used by the register to which a transformer is connected.

·        Conversion of meter readings of the same dimension but with different units of measurement due to different operand definitions

If, for example, a register operand has a different unit of measurement to the target operand that is updated when the schema is executed, the consumption values are converted to the unit of measurement of the target operand.

·        Gas billing

Normally, the meter reading dimension and the billing dimension are different in gas billing. Meter reading can take place using the dimensions volumetric (cubic meters), volumetric using standard conditions (standard cubic meters), or energy (kWh). Billing can also take place using one of the three dimensions. As a rule, the gas volume is measured and the energy supplied is billed. That is why conversions are necessary.

Result

The resulting billing document contains the determined quantities, which are available for further processing.
