Use

A paragraph format contains information on indents, spacing, font settings, text color, tabs, numbering and outline. Each paragraph format must have a unique name. In the PC Editor, you assign these formats to a text or a field (see also Entering Text in the PC Editor).

Features

Indents and Spacing

The graphic below illustrates the indents and spacings you can specify for a paragraph:

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Paragraph format A1 has been assigned to the first two lines; besides the Line Spacing also a Space After is specified for it. In paragraph format A2, a value for Space Before is specified. Both paragraphs are left-justified (default setting).

You can use the checkboxes in the Text Flow box to control page breaks.

Font Settings

If a paragraph format does not contain any font settings, the system uses the default values from the header data. For an overview of the font attributes, refer to Character Formats.

Note

You can assign a color from a color palette to the paragraph format. Provided that the printer driver and the printer support color printing, the relevant text is printed in color.

Tabs

For each paragraph format, you can define any number of tabs.

Numbering and Outline

You can create paragraph structures with several levels to allow outlines and numbered paragraphs.

If you want to use a paragraph format as a numbered paragraph format, enter the name of the paragraph in the field Top Outline Paragraph. You can set the following attributes:
