Object Tile

A tile is a basic unit of information on the application interface. Tiles subdivide the application view area to provide groupings of information related to a business component. Tiles that appear in the view area at the same time are grouped as a visual unit called a tile set. For more information about tile sets, see Tile Set.

Each business component can contain many tile sets, which consist of multiple tiles.

Structure

There are two types of tiles:

  • Detail tile – Displays information in a series of fields

  • List tile – Displays information in a list format

Each tile has a title bar with an active indicator, the tile name in a caption, and context-sensitive help.

List tiles also have a maximize button to increase the display area. For more information about list tiles, see Sorting Business Data.

The figure below shows three tiles, which are each outlined in blue. Together, these tiles form a tile set. The tile that is active displays the orange active indicator.
