Notification by E-Mail
You can configure user management to notify users about specific events by e-mail. For example, when the administrator creates a user account an e-mail is sent to the user informing him or her that an account has been created.
· Both the user sending and receiving the e-mail must have an e-mail address defined in their user profile. For example, if an administrator creates a user account and the administrator does not have an e-mail address in his or her profile, an e-mail will not be sent to the user informing him or her that an account has been created.
· Make sure that the SMTP server that you configure for e-mail notification accepts e-mails from and sends e-mails to all domains that users may have in your environment. It is especially important that administrators have an e-mail address that the STMP server accepts.
· You can set up e-mail notification for the following events. In all cases, an e-mail is set to the user.
¡ Administrator creates new user
¡ Administrator changes password
¡ Administrator locks user account
¡ Administrator unlocks user account
¡ Administrator deletes user account
¡ Import function creates new user
¡ Import function updates user
¡ User requests new password
¡ User registers self
· E-mails are sent in the language of the receiving user. If no language is defined for the user, the system language is used.

If an administrator with language English creates a user with language Japanese, the user receives an e-mail in Japanese informing him or her that a user has been created for him.
· Notification e-mails to administrators are automatically sent to all administrators that have the authorization to create users for the company of the requesting user. These are administrators assigned to a role that includes the action UME.Manage_All. In SAP NetWeaver Portal, this is the User Admin or Super Administration role.
· Optionally, you can choose to define a dummy e-mail address for users or administrators. You can also define that all notification e-mails from users are sent to a central administrator e-mail address. For more information, see E-Mail Notification.
· You configure notification e-mails in user management properties. For information on the relevant properties, see E-Mail Notification.
