Triggering Actions with Action Profile Determination 

Use

You can use this function to find an action profile using order-specific characteristics, for example the order status. You can use an action profile to group actions. This allows you to then use a requirement, for example if the entry channel of the sales order is SAP Internet sales, to activate a group of actions.

Integration

You define the time at which an action can be executed when defining the action itself. You can find further information on the definition of actions in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Customer Relationship Management under Basic Functions  ® Actions ® Actions in Transaction.

Functional Scope

The system finds action profiles via master data. A transaction type or an item category in the sales order allows both the assignment of an action profile determination procedure and the assignment of an action profile which can contain several actions to be processed.

Action profile determination can take place at header level and/or at item level of the sales order. Depending on the action profile determination type, it ends with the first condition record is found.

You can use action profiles to activate an entire group of actions with one fulfilled requirement.

Activities

To determine action profiles you have to make the following settings in Customizing for Customer Relationship Management in the specified order. If it is not otherwise specified, you can find the IMG activities and further information on the settings in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Customer Relationship Management under Basic Functions ® Actions ® Actions in Transaction ® Set Up Action Profile Determination.

       1.      Create field catalog

       2.      Create condition tables

       3.      Create condition types

       4.      Create access sequences

       5.      Define determination procedure

       6.      Change condition maintenance for action profiles (under Set Up Master Data Maintenance for Action Profile Determination)

       7.      Define requirements for action profile determination procedure (with the Business Add-In for Requirements for Determination Procedure)

       8.      Assign determination procedure to transaction type and item category

Example

You would like to activate certain actions independently of the entry channel through which you created the sales order, for example SAP Internet Sales. Therefore, you can define that for sales orders created using SAP Internet Sales, the customer always receives an order confirmation by e-mail.
