Activities

On the SAPGUI

Note

When creating mail forms, the translation tool uses the locator with Search, Worklist and Translation functions.

Under This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (personal settings) you can specify:

·         Which of the locator tab pages is active when you start the transaction.

·         The source and target languages which are to appear as defaults each time you start the transaction.

       1.      In the locator under Find select a mail form for translation.

The text and table nodes belonging to the mail are displayed on the left of the screen, the text for translation (source text) on the right.

To switch between texts and tables, double-click on the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text icon next to the name of the element that has to be translated.

       2.      If you are working with text, either enter your translation directly, or highlight the text of the source mail with your cursor and use This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (copy) & This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (paste) to copy the source mail text to the target mail text editor and translate it.

       3.      If you wish, you may use the This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (upload) and This graphic is explained in the accompanying text (download) functions to insert text stored locally on your PC into the text editor (you may for example want to use existing translations stored in Word format).

       4.         If you translate the table the source language column descriptions will be displayed at the top of the screen and the translation can be maintained in the area below.

       5.      Save your data.

Note
As soon as you select a source language and a target language, the language code is displayed alongside each text node on the left of the screen (insofar as the text node exists in the language in question). If the node does not exist in the language, this is denoted by a *'.

You can translate the text attached to a node, but not the description of the node itself.

On the PC UI

·        Here, the text and table header can be translated directly in the maintenance application. The Translate button is available for the table and text elements in the Element area. The relevant language is displayed on the editor screen for texts and in the Table Header  tab page for tables.

·        To create a new translation, choose Translate for the element to be translated, and select the language for the new translation in the dialog box.

·        To create a copy of an existing translation, choose Copy Original.
