Function documentation Transporting Set Types to a Production System Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

The system in which you create your set types and attributes depends on your system landscape. Transport functionality is available, enabling you to transport your objects between systems, however, you should consider the following points to avoid errors and data inconsistency:

·        Attributes and set types should be created in the same system.

·        We recommend that you create them in the development system and then transport them within your landscape to the quality and production sytems.

You can also create these objects in the quality and production systems, however you must ensure that the users involved have the appropriate authorizations.

Set types are created as local objects and are therefore assigned to the package $TMP. To be able to transport a set type to a production system, you must assign it to package that can be transported and include it in a transport request.

This functionality is only available in the SAP GUI.

Prerequisites

·        The set type you want to transport has already been created.

·        The package that can be transported, to which you want to assign the set type, exists.

·        A transport request has been created.

·        The transport system has been set up.

Activities

       1.      In the user menu choose Maintain Set Types and Attributes.

       2.      Choose Set Types/Attributes ®Transport ® Set Type and enter the ID of the set type to be transported. Then choose Include in Transport.

Note

If you set the flag Create API Append you can also maintain set types with APIs. In this process the API structure is extended and the data is transferred to archiving.

       3.      Choose Execute.

       4.      Choose Display/Change in the dialog box that appears, enter the package to which you want to assign the set type and then choose Enter.

       5.      In the dialog box that then appears, enter the transport request and choose Enter.

       6.      Release the transport request.

Once the transport request has been released and transported the set type is transported to the given systems (for example, Development System ® Consolidation System ® Quality/Test System ® Production System).
