Completion Rules
You can use completion rules to define what should happen once the customer has released the total target quantity or value of products from a contract. For each item in the contract you can customize whether:
· The system should change the contract status to “completed” once the target quantity or value has been reached (and thereby prevent any more release orders being created for the contract)
· The customer may exceed the target quantity or value
The completion rules can be integrated with the action profile so that, for example, when the contract has reached the status “completed”, an action is generated informing the sales representative that they should contact the customer.
You must choose a completion rule in Customizing under the IMG for Customer Relationship Management ® Transactions ® Basic Settings ® Define Item Categories. Go to Customizing at Item Level for the relevant item category and choose a completion rule in the Completion field in the Contract Data section.
The way in which the system responds for completed contracts depends on the Customizing settings you have made. In general, the following applies:
· If you create a release order and the contract has been given the status “completed”, the system does not link the sales order to the contract.
· If you create a release order for a quantity or value that exceeds the target quantity or value in the contract, the system displays a warning and you can choose whether to proceed. The system then sets the contract status to “completed”.
Note that the system does not display a
warning if you create the release order in Mobile Sales.
The figure below illustrates how the completion rule affects release order processing for contracts:
