Template Type Creation
Purpose
In
order to use activity journals in Activity Management, you need to create a template type
and then assign it to a template. The
template type is a pre-defined form, in which you define the fields you wish
to maintain in the activity journal during activity processing. You use it as
a basis for defining a pre-filled template. The template type defines the
structure and layout of the activity journal.
Note that you cannot use a
template type on its own. It must be used in combination with a
template.
Process
Flow
You
carry out the following during template type creation:
-
Enter a name for the
template type and a title for the activity journal.
-
Enter the validity period
for the template type.
-
Assign a sales area and
territory hierarchy ID for which the template type should be
valid.
You can specify a sales area for
template types in both CRM
Enterprise and CRM Mobile.
However, the corresponding activity journal is only determined according to
the specified sales area in CRM
Enterprise. If you specify a sales area in CRM Mobile and then download it to CRM Enterprise, it is determined according to
the specified sales area in CRM
Enterprise.
-
Specify the transaction
type and activity category for which you want the template type to be
available.
-
Enter the language in which
you are maintaining the template type and in which you want the activity
journal to be available.
-
Specify the fields you want
to appear for maintenance during activity processing, for example, sales
price, promotional price, number of samples, value of samples.
-
Select the status for the
template type, that is, Not Released
or Released for Template. The status
Not Released means that you can
still make changes to the template type. The template type will then not be
considered when the system determines which activity journals are displayed
during activity processing. The status Released for Template means that you can
assign the template type to a template. However, the template type will still
not be considered when the system determines which activity journals are
displayed during activity processing.
You can delete or modify template types with the
status Released according to
specific criteria. For more information, see the “Features”
section under
Activity Journals.
