Function documentation Creating Variants Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

If you often have to make similar changes to sales orders, you can save the data that you have already entered in the dialog as a variant. This saves you from having to enter the same data repeatedly. You can use the function Save as Variant for the following data:

For the selection of fields on offer

Selection criteria that you have entered in these fields

     Fields to be changed

New values for the fields to be changed

If formulae or ABAP routines exist here, they are also saved in the variant.

Integration

If you want to execute mass changes in the background, you have to use a variant. You can find more information under Mass Changes for Sales Transactions in the Background.

Prerequisites

You are working in mass processing (SAP Easy Access ® SAP Menu  ® Sales ® Mass Changes for Sales Transactions ®  Perform Mass Change for Sales Transactions).

Features

You can save the selection fields and the selection values in the variant. The selected data records are not saved in the variant. The data records are reselected every time. The result can vary depending on dataset.

Activities

You create the fields for mass changes at item level as described in Mass Changes for Sales Transactions in the Dialog.

You choose the selection fields and enter the corresponding selection values.

You enter the new values of the fields to be changed. However, before you execute mass changes, save these entries as a variant.

Save Variant

       1.      To save a variant, choose Goto ® Variants ® Save as Variant.

       2.      Enter a name and a short description of the variant in the Save Variant dialog box.

       3.      Furthermore, you can exclude certain data from the variant.

To do this, choose Options and deactivate the relevant data.

Transport Variant

If required, you can firstly create variants in a test system and test them, and then transport them to the productive system. You then make the actual changes there.

       4.      To transport the variant to the productive system, go to the SAP Easy Access screen and choose Sales ® Mass Changes for Sales Transactions ® Variant Transport.

       5.      Enter the transport request and choose Continue.

       6.      You select the variants to be transported on the next screen, and choose Include in Transport Request.
